Mary Sauceda (she/her/ella) serves as Associate Vice President of Enrollment Management at Metropolitan State University of Denver (MSU Denver). Mary’s focus on college access and affordability and supporting students with an asset-based lens is rooted in love, and flourished early on in her career with thirteen years of professional experience at a Hispanic Serving Institution. Starting in 2004, she served in the Trio Educational Talent Search Program at California State University, Fresno (Fresno State). Mary also served in various leadership roles in financial aid, and before moving to Colorado, Mary oversaw communications and media for the Division of Student Affairs and Enrollment Management at Fresno State. Mary has also experienced the nuanced challenges of navigating multiple college campuses and competing commitments as a student, having entered her undergraduate career as a first-generation, nontraditional student at a community college and transferring to a four- year public university. She earned an Associate’s degree in Liberal Arts from Fresno City College and two degrees from Fresno State—a Bachelor’s degree in Business Computer Information Systems and her Master’s degree in Educational Leadership and Administration with distinction.
Before starting her career at MSU Denver, Mary served in the Office of Financial Aid at the University of Denver where she is currently pursuing a Doctoral degree in Higher Education. Mary enjoys cycling, spending time outdoors with her partner and children, all things science-fiction and fantasy genres, and eating ethnic foods.
