Mary Ann Lucero (she/her/hers) is currently the Director of the Center for Diversity and Inclusion at Aims Community College. Previously, she has served in roles related to access, retention, and completion efforts for communities who have been marginalized. Mary Ann earned her B.S. from Eastern New Mexico University in Psychology and Religious/Spiritual Studies; and, her M.A. at University of Northern Colorado in Educational Leadership and Policy Studies, with a concentration in Student Affairs. Mary Ann has been involved in a variety of engagement initiatives at Aims which include the Latinx Advisory Council, Academic Advising Training task force, and Council for Equity and Inclusion.
Having been raised in the southeastern part of New Mexico, she recognize the impact of cultural differences and its ability to enhance a person’s paradigm. Additionally, she embraces her identities as a first-generation, queer woman of color, and her responsibility in fostering an environment, which promotes justice and social responsibility.
